I understand the idea of building high-density housing on the main roads leading to Aarhus as a solution to the housing and climate problem. And while the representatives of Aarhus City did their best to persuade our community that no decision has yet been made about the height and intention for the housing, we are not naive: business holds power over government and will win out. That used to be a very American thing. It is clearer and clearer becoming a Danish thing.
Housing height and density that is in keeping with the surrounding area is essential if our neighborhood is to retain its current character and value--both essential and market. Perhaps the city would like to guarantee the sale price of houses in the neighborhood..
In addition, the proposed housing is rental, which means the occupants have less of an investment in the maintenance of the neighborhood, something our neighborhood is proud of. And if the occupants are to be young, that will create a different burden regarding noise, amonst other youth-related behavior.
The traffic factor is worrying, both with respect to parking as well as to the amount of traffic on the street. Early in the morning, it already takes some time to exit Bernstorffsvej onto Skanderborgvej because of conjestion. Parking on the street will make it difficult to drive on the street as well as exit from driveways on the street.
I support the team that is working on behalf of the residents of Bernstorffsvej, Skanderborgvej and Monradsvej (among others streets) and hope that the city can truly work with our representative group to achieve a solution that is satisfactory to all.
Thank you.
