In my opinion, the planned port expansion does not only disregard environmental and biodiversity issues, it may in the long run also hurt businesses and academia in Aarhus. I fully agree with the CEOs of Arla and Salling Group: One of the biggest assets when it comes to attracting new employees is Aarhus' proximity to both forest and water. This unique and impressive combination of forest and water was one of the reasons why I have chosen to take a position at Aarhus University four years ago. Being able to enjoy a walk in the forest or a swim at Tangkrogen while admiring the impressive view makes it easy to unwind, provides new perspectives, promotes social connections, and ultimately benefits a healthy work-life balance. The port expansion will substantially reduce these advantages.
