The announced move by the Aarhus Municipality of Bora Bora to smaller facilities - unsuited for its functioning as a residency, production and presentation place for dance - reaches us with great incomprehension. The creation and presentation of dance works ask for specific conditions - both in terms of artistic, productional and international accompaniment as in terms of space and technical support. Bora Bora fulfils an essential role within this field. In an outstanding way, it has contributed to the development of dance in Denmark, the Nordic countries and internationally. Moving the centre to unsuited premises will lead to an implosion of an already very fragilized arts field in the aftermath of Covid & under the current economic situation. As a partner organisation from Belgium, we strongly plea for Bora Bora to keep its current premises so it can continue to fulfil its essential role for the dance field in a qualitative manner.
