Strategi for rekruttering og fastholdelse af international arbejdskraft

1. Housing Market:
The rental market in Aarhus offers limited options for larger families (e.g., 2 adults and 3 children), creating challenges for those not yet ready to purchase a bigger property. Additionally, real estate agencies could benefit from focusing on attracting foreign clients and collaborating with relocation companies that assist newcomers with their home searches. During our search for apartments on BoligPortal, we noticed a significant difference in the responses we received depending on whether our messages were written in English or Danish. With much higher success rate for messages written in Danish.

2. Referrals to Relocation Companies: Newcomers are not always aware of relocation companies that can assist with their transition. We encourage the employers and Aarhus Municipality to refer newcomers to such services, making their settlement process smoother.

3. Limited Selection of International Schools: The selection of international schools in Aarhus has decreased across all age groups, from nursery and primary school to gymnasium. Each age group only has a single institution to choose from, making admissions highly dependent on the availability of spots in specific schools and classes. This can be a barrier for families seeking an international education.

4. Multicultural Events Visibility: Awareness of multicultural events could be improved among both internationals and Danes. Currently, these events are often only attended by internationals.
o An information hub with event details in both Danish and English could help bridge this gap.
o Promotion through platforms like e-Boks or other newsletter services could ensure these events reach a wider audience.

5. Support for Spouses: Providing personalized consulting services to spouses on how to find employment in Denmark would be highly beneficial. A similar program in Vejle has been very successful. Additionally, supporting spouses in settling socially is equally important. Creating groups and organizing social events would help them build new connections and acquaintances, making the transition to life in Denmark smoother both professionally and personally.

6. Danish Language Classes: Many Danish language courses are held during working hours, making it difficult for full-time employees to attend.
o Promoting a volunteer buddy system for language learning could also help internationals improve their Danish while building local connections.

We believe these changes could make Aarhus more attractive and accommodating for international residents. We are happy to provide further insights or assist in any discussions on these matters.
